Our
Pastor
Pastor Lucius McDowell has been obeying Christ’s
directions for a number of years. As a former minister of music, he has
stimulated both spiritual and membership growth in the music departments
at several churches. Through song, he has touched the hearts and lives
of many believers as a praise and worship leader. As a minister of the
gospel, Pastor McDowell has carried the message of salvation outside the
walls of the church into the prison system. He is truly an anointed gift
to God’s people. He teaches the body of Christ how to develop and
maintain a personal relationship with the Heavenly Father. His timely
words of encouragement command listening audiences to be transformed by
the power of the Holy Ghost.
Pastor McDowell went to work for the Governor’s Office
of Energy Resources in Atlanta, Georgia, upon earning his degree from
Morris Brown College in 1985. He was involved with management of
strategic programs for the State of Georgia; after which he worked for
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assisting in the
rebuilding of the City of Miami, Florida after the devastation of
Hurricane Andrew. He worked as a Community Coordinator for the Georgia
Transportation Alliance, where he continually made a kingdom difference
in a bureaucratic system of government.
In 1996, Pastor McDowell joined the ministerial staff
at Faith Christian Center in Smyrna, Georgia. He served as a minister of
music under the leadership of Bishop Keith A. Butler. He distinguished
himself in 1998 by graduating magna cum laude from the Word of Faith
Christian International Bible Traini ng Center and later received his
ordination.
Believers can immediately sense Pastor McDowell’s
commitment to and understanding of the importance of being in right
relationship with the Heavenly Father. His thought-provoking and timely
messages are delivered with passion and conviction, and create a desire
to grow and experience more of God’s power. He and his family
demonstrate their knowledge of Christ as well as the rewards of
life-giving service.
Pastor McDowell answered the call of God to begin
Agape International Ministries, Inc. in 1999. On October 6th of that
year, Pastor McDowell and his family held their first service at Wesley
Lakes Elementary School. Ten people joined that day, and now the church
and its growing membership is housed in a beautiful facility in downtown
McDonough, Georgia. In fulfilling the vision of “Reaching the Lost,
Maturing the Body, and Spreading the Love of Jesus Christ,” more than a
dozen ministries have been developed, including the evangelism team,
children’s church and youth services, singles and married couples
ministry, as well as the men and women’s fellowship.
Pastor McDowell is married to
Minister Donna
McDowell, and they reside in McDonough with their lovely daughters, Zoe
and Victoria.
